The Beginning

So I wanted to document all that's been happening to our little Lainie. We're excited and nervous and happy and well, there's a million things going on right now. So here's what's been going on, from the beginning...

Back in March of 2009 we got a postcard in the mail advertising Pretty Little Princess Pageants. We thought it would be a fun thing for Lainie to do, it said every girl gets to be on stage, modeling 2 different outfits. All girls received a trophy, certificate, and flower just for entering. The winner of the pageant received a $250 savings bond. So we signed her up.

Lainie entered the pageant on May 17th and had a blast. She LOVED being up on stage! She was mad after the pageant - not because she didn't win- but because the winner got to wear a sash! (She wanted a sash too!!)

Two days after the pageant we got a call. It was a scout from Kim Flowers Talent Development Academy. They said they saw Lainie at the pageant and wanted her to come audition at the school. We thought, "Of course, they probably just called everyone..." Not so. There were 4 or 5 girls from her pageant that were at the open house, about 20 kids in all. So we learned about the school, the kids did on camera tests, then interviewed with a consultant. We were told if they were interested in our child we would receive a call by 11 AM the next day.

The next morning we waited and waited, thinking, "Of course, everyone probably gets a call back, why wouldn't they want our money?" (are we skeptics or what?) I was on the phone with my brother at 11 that morning, no call. I was whining to him, "Why wouldn't they want my Lainie? I'm so sure" (As he was calling me Dina Lohan - thanks Josh) At 11:03 the phone rings. It was the National Director of Kim Flowers TDA, offering the full year, unlimited classes. Turns out they loved Lainie, and she was the only one offered that block - everyone else was able to sign up for individual classes. So it was a big honor for Lainie, and she started classes there on May 28th.
